Hello and Welcome!
To help make visitors more comfortable when attending a program for the first time, we have created a guide to help you know what to expect.
FUS has on street parking. We share a road with the beautiful City Park and have plenty of on street parking space.
Our building is walker and wheelchair accessible. We have two private bathrooms, One is handicap accessible, and both have grab bars to assist with mobility.
When you visit for the first time you must show evidence of being fully vaccinated for Covid. We have many congregants who are elderly and/or immunosuppressed. Masks are recommended, especially if you work in an environment with a high volume of people.
When you come in there will be a check in station. Here you can create a name tag (or grab yours when you already have one). If it is your first time visiting us, please fill out a first time visitor card. It will give us information on how to contact you in the future. Drop it into the collection plate during collection and reflection. When you return a second time check in on the clipboard.
We gather in the Assembly Hall for our programs. We have a variety of programs presented by our members, and members of our Pueblo community. We also engage minsters, paid speakers, and performers. To stay informed on what programs we have upcoming, sign up to receive our weekly announcement bulletin, The Chalice Flame. Our programs last about an hour.
A typical program looks loosely like this:
Opening
Announcements
Chalice Lighting - The Chalice is the symbol of Unitarian Universalists. It was originally created in World War II so that refugees, who were escaping the war, knew where to go to to receive the help Unitarians were offering. It was adapted as the official symbol after the Unitarian and Universalist traditions merged.
Presentation
Joys, Sorrows, and Concerns- during this time our congregation briefly shares the highs and lows in their lives. Do not feel pressured to participate.
Collection and Reflection- this is a time to check in with yourself. There will be a collection plate passed around for those who wish to contribute.
Closing and Extinguish Chalice
After our programs we gather in the social hall for some coffee and community.
